Hold Products Securely to the Conveyor on Steep Inclines and Declines with Dorner’s New SmartGrip Conveyor

Sneak-preview at this new gripping technology will be on display in Dorner’s booth No. C-1847 at PACK EXPO 2015, Sept. 28-30, Las Vegas

HARTLAND, Wis., (September 28, 2015) —The new SmartGrip Conveyor being developed from Dorner Mfg. is designed to hold boxes and packages securely to the belt for movement on steep inclines and declines, and also at fast speeds. This new technology, which is still in development and targeted for a 2016 launch, will be on display in Dorner’s booth No. C-1847 at PACK EXPO 2015.

Using patented electroadhesion technology developed by Grabit Inc., the SmartGrip Conveyor provides adhesion on demand to hold boxes and packages to the belt without the use of cleats or other holding attachments. Grabit’s electroadhesion technology acts like a magnet, and is activated by a switch to create a strong holding force between the box or package and the belt, which is supplied by Forbo. This conveyor is ideal for applications moving a variety of flat packaged materials, such as boxes and packages, on inclines or declines.

The SmartGrip runs on a 3200 Series Dorner conveyor with a plastic bedplate. A high voltage/low amp controller powers two electrically conductive strips along the conveyor to energize the belt, which has electrically-conductive patterns meshed into the fabric to create the force to hold products in place during movement.

This new gripping technology will be on display in Dorner’s booth C-1847 at PACK EXPO 2015. For more information on Dorner’s low profile belt conveyor systems, visit www.dornerconveyors.com.
